China is one of the most misunderstood countries in the world, yet one of the most important to figure out. Its meteoric rise and unique development model have transformed the global economy and financial markets in the past 20 years. You will learn how the Chinese economy, political system and financial markets work, and how they affect the world economy. The international order is undergoing a fundamental shift, which we call The Great Decoupling, as the rules of engagement between the aspiring superpower, China, and the existing superpower, the United States, are rewritten. The two countries, under Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, are rapidly drifting apart, a divergence that is set to shape global politics, economics and markets for years to come. The coronavirus outbreak, which started in Wuhan and turned into a global pandemic as well as Beijing’s response to Covid-19 are set to accelerate the global impact of the Great Decoupling, especially when it comes to international supply chains. As a financial professional, investor, policymaker or business leader, you will finish this program with a better grasp of how to read China’s leaders, policymakers, regulators and investors. You will learn how the Chinese think and what they value. You will gain the knowledge needed to make informed investment decisions and navigate a world in which China is swiftly becoming more assertive. You will discover what China’s economic and geopolitical strategies, both domestic and global, mean for your organization. You will learn how to deal with a culture which has a strong sense of identity and purpose and is governed by a Communist party intent on sticking to its own development path. Unbiased analysis, real-life examples and practical guidance will equip you with the analytical frameworks and tools to apply to your investment decisions, risk assessments or policymaking. You will learn directly from Enodo Economics’ team of experts, who together have more than 250 years of experience focusing on the economics, politics, markets and culture of China. An excellent online course offered by edX: how it works
edX courses consist of weekly learning sequences. Each learning sequence is composed of short videos interspersed with interactive learning exercises, where students can immediately practise the concepts from the videos. The courses often include tutorial videos that are similar to small on-campus discussion groups, an online textbook, and an online discussion forum where students can post and review questions and comments to each other and teaching assistants. Where applicable, online laboratories are incorporated into the course.
edX offers certificates of successful completion and some courses are credit-eligible. Whether or not a college or university offers credit for an online course is within the sole discretion of the school. edX offers a variety of ways to take courses, including verified courses where students have the option to audit the course (no cost) or to work toward an edX Verified Certificate (fees vary by course). edX also offers XSeries Certificates for completion of a bundled set of two to seven verified courses in a single subject (cost varies depending on the courses).
